Hi Belgian man,

I monitor all inactive Wikipedias via a bloglines account for activities like vandalism, etc.

I know your username because you are the best and most frequent editor to the Nauruan (Naoero) Wikipedia, which I have since removed from my list because it is now active.

I was surprised to see your extremely rude comment to an anonymous user.

These users should always be treated with respect unless they commit vandalism, especially on an inactive Wikipedia, because they might actually speak the language and you might scare them away with rudeness.

And, granted, the user does have a minor point - almost all of the pages here have no real content, for example Abuja just has a word or two, all the letters of the alphabet are pretty empty, etc. but of course that doesn't make it pointless as he asserted.

I hope in the future you can be kinder to anonymous users, even when they irritate you.

OK. Greets, Belgian man 17:22, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

You have no authority here. I am not vandalising anything - I am simply clearing your English-language text. This is Yoruba Wikipedia, not English. Leave it alone. --24.251.243.233 23:43, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

You don't have a job here. You are a volanteer like I am. You have no power to warn me or block me. You 'job' is to live and let live. I check you pages, you do'nt speak Yoruba. Why you go bug us then?

First warning: Vandalism on multiple pages, addition of non-Yoruba text, encouraging usage of legacy encoding and the {{odot}} template which makes text processing and search impossible. Sanction: Longer block when there is an admin. 63.226.56.237 03:51, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Ago o, Belgian man! Thanks for the welcome!
Sorry I can't speak Yorùbá, so I won't be able to write much here... I hope we find some users who can.
Did you try to contact Yeni, who wrote the eko article / recipe? I hope we can persuade her / him to write more... --Chamdarae 17:29, 17 September 2005 (UTC)

I don't speak Yoruba very well either. And I think it is too late to contact Yeni... Thanks for your contributions! Belgian man 18:01, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi,

I address you as the ambassador of your wikipedia. Please notice the above project.

This project, more than other projects, will benefit from inter-wiki cooperation. Can you post a message regarding this project at your wikipedia village pump?

Thanks for your help, APH from the English wiki

We haven't got a village pump yet... But thanks for the information. Belgian man 17:59, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.

You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.

I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be

I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.

Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.

http://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/announce-l

I hope that you and others of your wiki will subscribe to Wikizine and give feedback. So that Wikizine can become really a source where Wikimedians can find out what is going on. Greetings, w:nl:gebruiker:Walter PS: do not repond here. I will not see it.

Trust in Wikipedia[àtúnṣe àmìọ̀rọ̀]

this is Cathy from Hong Kong working on a research about trust on Wikipedia. I wonder if you would kindly contact me at researchingmedia@gmail.com? I'd like to chat with you about Wikipedia of your language. Would you kindly drop me your email or IM (Skype, MSN, AIM or ICQ)? It wouldn't take more than ten minutes, but it would help enormously for us to understand the overall trust-based social landscape of Wikipedia. Thank you!

I see you created odot, edot etc. quite some time ago. I've recently adjusted the edit window to accomodate these special characters (see Mediawiki:Edittools), so I think those templates aren't needed anymore. Does that work for you, or not? (LOAdewole reported that it doesn't seem to work for him in Internet Explorer, though I'm not sure if that isn't simply a font issue). What browser are you using? Which Unicode fonts do you have installed (Lucida Sans Unicode, Arial Unicode MS, Charis SIL, something else?

I'm using FireFox and to me the subdots look just fine. — mark 15:33, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

BTW, could you enable your email? — mark 15:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

It works for me to insert them, but I cannnot see the s with subdot. But this is not too bad, when I see a little square I'll read is as an s-with-subdot :)
Meanwhile I know for quite some time the template idea wasn't very good. You can delete them all.
I use IE (very rare for a Wikipedia contributer, but quite normal for other people :D ) too, and frankly speaking I'm not really willing to change this in the nearby future...
For the rest: It sounds strange to me that my e-mail is not enabled. My address is correctly given in my Preferences. I'll try a redirect address. Belgian man 18:47, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
No, I'm not suggesting that you use FF to solve the problem; I'm merely trying to isolate the problem to see whether we can do something about it by editing the stylesheets. I think that may be possible, but then I have to know whether it is a font problem or a browser problem (or a combination of both). — mark 12:12, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay. I think I have the "normal" Unicode font (Wikipedia text is in Arial, but does this have anything to do with the installed unicode question? I think I've never installed another Unicode.) Belgian man 18:48, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for your encoragement. It is sad to note that Yoruba hasn't got many articles. There are so many Yoruba scholars who are willing but the problem is accessing the internet. I am trying to encourage them here and with time, we will get more Yoruba articles. Thanks again. L.O. Adewole

Sorry for being to late, but I see you has the admistrator rights now, and I wish you all the best with it :) Greetings, Belgian man 14:37, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Belgian man 14:33, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
