This female coyote was hunting near the pond at Metzger Farm Open Space in Westminster and Broomfield, Colorado. She clearly has pups in a den somewhere. This is the same coyote that was relaxing in a safe area in the previous photo taken earlier on the same day.

The male coyote and usually one or two non-breeding females in the pack or family group help raise the pups, which allows the breeding female to hunt or relax.
