A 1. Absorb: v. (i) ‘fa’ the cloth absorbed all the water in the bowl; Aṣọ náà fa gbogbo omi inú abọ́ náà (ii) ‘mọ̀’ I have not absorbed all their rules; N kò tíì mọ gbogbo òfin wọn.
2. Abundant: v. ‘pọ̀’ Maize was abundant last year; Àgbàdo pọ̀ ní ọdún tí ó kọjá).
3. Abuse: v. ‘bú’ He abused me; Ó bú mi.
4. Accept: v. (i) ‘dà’ The sacrifice has been accepted; Ẹbọ náà ti dà (ii) ‘fin’ The sacrifice would be accepted by the deities; Ẹbọ náà yóò fín (iii) ‘gbọ́’ He accepts what I say; Ó gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ mi (iv) ‘gbà’ He accepted the money; Ó gba owó náà (v) ‘yàn’ The kolanuts have been accepted by the deity; Obì náà ti yàn.
5. Accommodate: v. ‘gbà’ Our house can accommodate four people; Ilé wa lè gbà ènìyàn mẹ́rin.
6. Accompany: v. (i) ‘sìn’ He accompanied him there; Ò sìn ín lọ sí ibẹ̀ (ii) ‘bá’ He accompanied Olú to the doctor; Ó bá Olú lọ sọ́dọ̀ dókítà.
7. Accurate: v. ‘pé’ It is accurate; Ó pé.
8. Achieve: v. ‘gbà’ He achieved high marks in the examination; Ó gba máàkì tó ga nínú ìdánwò.
9. Acknowledge: v. ‘gbà’ Do you acknowledge that you are wrong?; Ṣé o gbà pé o jẹ̀bi?.
10. Add: v. ‘rò’ He added three to four to make seven; Ó ro ẹẹ́ta mọ́ ẹẹ́rin láti di eéje.
