Eristalis tenax

Two drone flies (Eristalis tenax) mating on a flower. The larva is a rat-tailed maggot, which lives in drainage ditches, pools around manure piles, sewage, and similar places containing water badly polluted with organic matter, but adult flies have never been implicated as disease vectors.
