Lati ọdun 2009 awọn agbasọ ọrọ ti wa ni ayika Mutinhiri ti o ni aanu si MDC. Ninu idibo yii a fura pe Mutinhiri jẹ ọkan ninu awọn ibo meji ti ZANU-PF ni ojurere ti oludije MDC. [2] Awọn ikọlu naa tun pẹlu awọn igbiyanju ikọlu oko rẹ ni Marondera. [3]
